I had the fun chance to go and visit a brand-new spot in Carlsbad. I met with Megan, Operations Manager at Kids & Coffee, just one week after they opened their doors. Inspired by their experience raising their own two daughters, owners Vivian and Ken recognized the need for a safe play space that also supported the needs of the parents and the idea for Kids & Coffee was born.
Featuring a giant indoor play space with various play areas (see photos and features below), it’s a great place to spent a couple hours. During my visit, one mom had a heck of a time getting her daughter to leave when their time was up. She was having too much fun! And don’t worry, parents are welcome to play too!!
How it works:
Kids & Coffee operates on a reservation basis. You have to make a reservation online. And don’t forget to sign the waiver before your first visit!!
Admission is paid per visit when you book and soon they’ll be offering a 10-visit pack. At the time of this blog post, they are offering a limited number of Founding Memberships where Members pay a monthly fee for DAILY 2-hour admission. Each child is allowed to bring one adult for free to accompany them.

Indoor Playspace Features
With Soft Play Zones, a designated Infant Play Zone for ages 0-3, lots of slides, sensory-driven areas and a huge ball pit with 23,000 balls, it’s a kids’ dream come true. They even have the cutest little mini grocery store! The space is light and airy with a focus on natural colors and has a very calm vibe to it. Keeping sensory issues, sensitive kiddos and anyone who needs a break in mind, their Comfort Room features dim lighting and quiet with calming blue walls, cozy furniture and blankets, and even noise canceling headphones, for when the excitement gets to be too much.

Classes
After offering a yoga class earlier in the day, I got to see one of the rooms complete with yoga mats and the cutest little cozy chairs you’ve ever seen! From arts and crafts to music classes and even coffee tastings for parents, there is plenty to see and do. Come January, dance and gymnastics classes will become available.

Café
Serving espresso-based drinks, with pizza & sandwiches coming soon, parents can enjoy a coffee buzz while the kiddos burn off some energy.
Events and Celebrations
If you’re looking for a place to have an upcoming birthday party for your kiddo, look no further. With a variety of adorable themes (check out details here) to choose from, they’ll handle all the details so you can relax and just enjoy celebrating your little one.
On holiday weeks they offer free crafts in the afternoon!

Kids & Coffee is an incredible addition to our city. With careful attention to detail, they have really thought through the needs of both parents and kids resulting in a functional, fun, beautiful space that I know you’ll love too.
